A wee bit of history about the Centre

2014 to 2023

The new Glencorse Centre was established in January 2014 and is located in the northern edge of the village of Auchendinny, in the valley of River North Esk , a little over a mile north-west of Penicuik.

The facilities co-ordinator’s role was taken on by Kate Williamson in 2016. Kate lives locally and is passionate about bringing together & strengthening the local (and further afield!) community. She continues to strive to develop a much-needed community hub for the local people.

By providing a space for families to gather, a community garden, a friendly community café run by volunteers to eat, drink & socialise and a place for various sports and other clubs and classes to run, Kate and her lovely team at Glencorse have built a heart centre for the local community.

The Centre delivers a broad range of classes and group meet-ups for the community to attend, from the weekly Breastfeeding Cafe to our senior citizens weekly lunch. Annual community events such as the Halloween and Christmas festivities attract visitors from far and wide!

Our brand new community café, the Community Cup, boasts delicious home-made cakes and treats and freshly brewed coffee. Many of the ingredients are sourced from our community garden, where we grow anything from potatoes to strawberries for our jams. We are always on the lookout for volunteers to help within the garden and would love to hear from you.

Our spacious main hall is available to hire for parties and many other events with access to a fully equipped modern kitchen. We also have a full-sized grass football pitch with changing and shower facilities for hire along with a 5-a-side all weather flood-lit astro pitch. Meeting/office space is also available for use. Please get in touch if you would like to rent space or facilities at Glencorse Centre. We are always looking to broaden our offerings here at the centre and welcome all!
